The fund-raising event, called ‘Our feelings are connected. May Love rescue YUSHU!’, was held in north district on 22 April 2010. Generous donations to our compatriots in Yushu poured in from all our fellow staff.

We all rose and stood in one minute’s silent tribute for the over two thousand lives lost. During the mobilization of this fund-raising event, Mr. Li, the general manager of the Company, said, ”The country is in calamity. Now it is the time we offer our assistance. From now on, taking its social responsibilities, the Company will assign a certain amount of funds each year for public welfare and charity. Fund-raising events and donations will be held in succession for local schools, Children’s Home and other charity organizations.” After the mobilization, people lined up and placed the envelops that contained their donations into a special box one by one. On each envelop, a line of heartfelt encouragement to the people in Yushu was written. Love and regards were like streams merged into the sea. Towards the end of the event, in the melody of ‘Orison’, we prayed for the people of Yushu and the future of our country and Nation. May the beautiful Kalsang Flower ever bloom and strew over the peaceful San Yuan River! May Yushu be blessed and may China be blessed!
NB: Kalsong Flower means the flower of Happiness in Tibetan. As Premier Wen Jiabao said, “Much distress regenerates a nation.” This is a time to test a nation’s cohesion. It is believed that the world would marvel at what we had to response. In this response, our voices sound!
